Pumela Salela, Brand South Africa’s UK country head and one of the keynote speakers at Homecoming Revolution’s March 2016 London event, played popular South African song, When You Come Back, to inspire the audience to return home.
When it was first written, the song, written by singer & songwriter Vusi Mahlasela, was a popular anti-apartheid anthem, addressed to those who had been exiled, saying that South Africans would “ring the bells” when they “come back”. Today, the song has incredible significance for the returning African diaspora and echoes Homecoming Revolution’s calls for skilled African professionals to return home and reverse Africa’s brain drain.
Homecoming Revolution held its annual London event the Park Plaza Victoria, London on 4 & 5 March 2016. The event, attended by approximately 400 people, equipped Africans living in the UK with everything they need to know about returning home including careers, property, relocation services, schools & immigration advice.
