Halli Manolakos-Tsehisi has been appointed as CEO of Students for a Better Future Foundation, September 2018.
She is responsible for managing the implementation, evaluation and continued growth and development of the key functions of the foundation: scholarship recruitment; Grade 7 preparatory programme; school scholarship programme; tertiary programme and Alumni Association.
When asked what appealed most about the role, Halli said, “This position was a chance to part of an exciting organisation, whose core values are directly aligned to my own personal values. Students for a Better Future’s core vision to develop successful individuals through quality education and holistic support, mirrors my own true passion for youth education and health systems strengthening. Professionally, the role aligns to my own skills and experience and is a chance to make an impact on the lives of children throughout Cape Town.”
She says since joining SBF she has felt extremely welcomed into the wonderful team and foundation.
“The team and foundation is dynamic. Meeting scholars on a daily basis has reminded me of my core principles and purpose in the role which is to see real change in individual lives on a daily basis.”
Throughout her career, Halli has lived and worked in many different communities across Sub-Saharan Africa, and within South Africa.
Prior to joining SBF, she held a position at Orbis International Africa, as Head of Programme Development Africa. In this position, Halli was responsible for ensuring cohesive approaches to programme implementation which ensured sustainable, thorough use of the Orbis strategy, aligned to clear parameters including demonstrated thought leadership. Prior to this, she held positions at The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, BroadReach and University of the Western Cape.
